To remove lower eyelid bags, surgery would be required. If the bags are small Dr. Ellis can use fillers to make them appear less obvious. If there is excessive skin, then an incision would be made under the eyelashes to remove some of the excessive fat and skin. Excessive upper eyelid skin can simply be removed with surgery of the upper eyelid provided that the eyebrows are in a high natural position. Malar festoons are lower bags on the cheek skin rather than in the lower eyelids. Malar festoons can be treated with injectable fillers or through surgery as an extended lower blepharoplasty that raises the sagging muscle and reduces the tight ligament. Occasionally, needle liposuction can be used to decrease the fullness of the malar festoon.
